The Student Ministries Team is up and running and excited to be diving into their work! The team was oriented to the work by Caroline Sell, one of our Ministry Architects consultants. Caroline trained the team in a project management style called “Agile Project Management.” In short, this means that we are dividing our work into “sprints” (two or three month chunks). At the beginning of each sprint, we will prioritize which of the recommendations from the Ministry Architects report to tackle next and each be assigned a task or two. For our first sprint, the team chose to focus on the following tasks:
- Evaluating currently used children’s ministry spaces on Sunday mornings and identifying new spaces that could be used
- Determining additional volunteer needs on Sunday mornings,
- Designing renewed programming for older elementary children
- Connecting with youth and families to determine their wants and needs for ministry programming.
Sean Williams from Ministry Architects will return to Hamline Church on February 23 for a Vision Summit, leading us as we determine the vision, values, and 3-year goals for the Student Ministries. Look for more details soon on how you can be involved in the Summit! If you have any questions or feedback on our work, contact Katie (kmorris@hamlinechurch.org) or another team member: Desirae Gillis, Krista Evans, Carrie Faust, and Brittany Pennington, Lauren Scott (youth representative)
