Spirit of Hope UMC in Golden Valley

Socialize with other Reconciling Methodists from around the State for a potluck lunch at noon. Please bring a dish to share. After lunch, there will be a brief update on the Activities of the Reconciling Ministries Network across the globe and in Minnesota. Keynote speaker Bishop Melvin Talbert will give a talk entitled “A Call for Biblical Obedience.” Bishop Talbert is a civil rights activist who worked with Martin Luther King, and a strong advocate for the full inclusion of all people. In response to the United Methodist common belief that God’s grace and love is available to all persons, he asserts that the United Methodist Church is in error on the subject of “homosexuality’s incompatibility with Christian Teaching.”  He commends United Methodists to “Biblical Obedience,” creating a church where all people are truly welcome.  A freewill offering will be taken to support the work of the Reconciling Ministries Network.
