Confirmation | Youth Group | Youth Band | Wednesday Night Schedule
Youth at Hamline Church are deeply involved in their church, their community, and their schools. They are musicians and readers, Sunday School assistants and budding theologians, dining hall servers and outreach ministry aficionados. Through formation classes, service, and social activities, there are abundant opportunities for young people to grow their faith and participate in the life of the congregation, both with their peers and inter-generationally.
Confirmation | 7th & 8th Graders
Confirmation at Hamline Church is a two-year program typically for seventh and eighth graders but older youth who have not already been confirmed are invited to attend as well. During this time, we explore what it means to confirm for ourselves the promises our parents made at Baptism. Our curriculum teaches young people to explore tough questions about the Bible, the Christian Faith and what it means to be baptized. At the end of their second year, Confirmands guide the worship service and experience the ritual of Confirmation.
Confirmation includes class meetings on Wednesday nights, a retreat, social events, and service events throughout the year. If you would like to register your child for confirmation, please contact our youth director, Walker at wbrault@hamlinechurch.org.
CONFIRMATION REQUIREMENTS
All students in the Confirmation class are required to:
- Attend as many class sessions as possible
Make up work for every 2 classes missed is organized with Youth Director. - Collect 20 Bulletins from Hamline Church worship services
- Serve Communion at least 1 time with a family member or friend
- Be an acolyte, scripture reader, usher, or greeter at least 4 times
- Attend 2 church-related service projects
- Attend 2 places of worship different from Hamline Church
- Interview an adult about their faith & their experience at church (Year B)
Those who wish to be confirmed on in May will also:
- Get coffee with Youth Director during April
- Meet with Pastor Mariah about Statement of Faith
- Complete a statement of faith
The Statement of Faith can be a written document that discusses what you believe and what your questions are, OR an art project that expresses your belief and questions. Art projects must be displayed during the confirmation service (a bulletin cover, or a 3d piece for the church—like the red hangings), and you must write a sort paragraph about them for the church bulletin.
Youth Group
Hamline Church Youth Group meets socially throughout the year for fun events like Skyzone, Ice Skating, Artsy Fartsy parties, picnics and movie outings. All students ages 6th through 12th grade are invited! We meet on the 1st & 3rd weekends of the month, usually Sunday Nights from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at the church.

Youth Band
Micah is looking for interested young people to join the youth band! The youth band will play on Sunday, October 27 during worship. There will be two rehearsals on Sunday after church from 11:15am - Noon on October 13 and October 20. Those interested are asked to attend a short info and prep session on Wednesday, September 25 at 6:00 pm.
