Kids at Hamline Church
Children at Hamline Church build supportive relationships with other Christian kids and adults, learn the stories and themes of the Bible, learn the practices of faith, and explore questions and issues of love, justice, service, community--and much, much more. There is a children's moment during worship, after which children exit for Sunday School. During the school year, we use the Godly Play curriculum. During the summer months, children have the opportunity to learn about serving our neighbors by tending to our organic SPROUT garden. The children have a short Bible lesson followed by gardening, sorting and delivering produce to neighbors through the Hamline Midway Elders.

Godly Play
Pre-K – 4th Grade
Children have an innate sense of the presence of God. The Godly Play approach helps them to explore their faith through story, to gain religious language and to enhance their spiritual experience though wonder and play. Based on Montessori principles and developed using a spiral curriculum, the Godly Play method gives children an opportunity to work with the Bible, rather than learn about it. Project Based Sunday School
5th & 6th Grade
5th and 6th graders rotate through various Bible-based projects such as telling Bibles stories through their own Lego movies, a 4-week session on welcoming the stranger through the stories of children from around the world, and other fun activities.
How It Works
Children are invited up to the front of the sanctuary following the peace. Afterwards, they are sung out of the church to their classrooms. Classrooms are in the upstairs hallway on the far end of the Commons.
Pre-K - Kg | Room 10
1st & 2nd | Room 7
3rd & 4th | Youth Room 6
5th & 6th | Activity Room
Dismissal
Each child receives a blessing from the storyteller before leaving the classroom. They are dismissed one by one. Please pick your children up from their classrooms.
Cooperative Sunday School
Our Sunday School is a cooperative model. Each household participates in the life of the classroom, and our program is expanded by additional adults and youth. Sign up to help in a classroom here:
